FTA Talks – China & GCC

FTA talks between China and the GCC – comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates – originally began in 2004 but faltered in 2009. They resumed the talks this month and they are seeking to complete them by the end of 2016.

Canada, Taiwan Sign Double Tax Treaty

Canada and Taiwan have signed a double tax agreement (DTA) that will limit the withholding tax rates on income from dividends, interest, and royalties, and provide for the exchange of tax information.

Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA)

 

The 18 countries of Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) hope to unified their customs by 2015 in a full free trade agreement.

 

The Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) is a pan-Arab free trade area that came into existence in 1997. It was founded by 14 countries (Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates). Four more countries joined the trade area later: Algeria, Jordan, Palestine and Yemen.

* EU – 141 Delegations and Offices around the World

 

17 January 2013, Brussels

 

 The European Union (EU) is to open a Delegation to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (Burma) and a Delegation to the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.). From now on,  EU count with a total of two office, in U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia, to cover its relations with the GCC’s region.

 

The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) is a regional organisation consisting of six Gulf countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

EU’s New Scheme for GSP Tariffs

 

The European Union (EU) amended its scheme of Generalized Tariff Preferences (GSP) for developing countries.

 

The EU GSP grants trade preferences for developing countries’ exports to the EU will be removed for EU imports from countries on the World Bank’s higher or upper middle per capita income list (including Russia, Brazil, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar).

OPEC Published Annual Statistical Bulletin 2012

The OPEC Secretariat released the online edition of its 2012 Annual Statistical Bulletin (ASB).

 

The ASB is a compilation of statistical data about global petroleum industry and activities (oil and gas natural)  in OPEC’s 12 Member Countries (Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E. and Venezuela) as well as in non-OPEC oil producing countries around the world.
