The evaluation by the EC might be a good start – it is indeed very difficult to apply for jobs in other countries, because employers do not even know what the different degrees or jobs on one’s CV mean or include. Unfortunately it will probably take many more years until anything changes!

Thank you for liking my blog. The EU Regulated Professions evaluation should prove interesting. It seems initially to be a survey of requirements to improve transparency. A transparent applications approach that surveyed standards necessary for import/Export for each country and the EU by product would be helpful for small and medium businesses. In the US medical profession licensing could also use this approach, although an interstate compact with reciprocity is in the works. Integration between domestic accreditation of health facilities and JCAHO for international accreditation would also be useful, and perhaps the EU could launch a competitive effort as the accreditation facility for domestic and international facilities is one and the same, but is hampered by CMS Medicare rules and legislation. It could expand cross-border medical treatment or at least expand travel for medical care. Like your blog.
