The Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor (TRACECA)

On the February 28, the European Commission hosts the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) Investment Forum with the propose to  attract investments into transport infrastructure between the EU and Central Asia and to discuss potential funding for priority projects.
The Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor (TRACECA) has been launched in 1993 by the EU as a programme to develop a transport corridor from Europe to China, via the Black Sea, the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea. TRACECA also aims to strengthen economic relations, trade and transport links between the countries.
The development of the TRACECA is based on a partnership among 13 countries in the Black Sea, Eastern Partnership and Central Asia regions and the EU. The Basic Multilateral Agreement was been signed in 1998 by EU and the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey.
The intergovernmental cooperation offer support for trade facilitation and potential hubs and logistics centres.  The TRACECA Investment Forum main aim is to attract investment for transport infrastructure in the transit countries. The funds will be invested in improving partners’ infrastructure, which leads to better interconnection and better transport services.
